Luangaphay Family - Table Rock - Boise, ID

Luangaphay Family - Table Rock - Boise, ID

I had the pleasure of working with Jesikah and her wonderful family during my last trip to Boise, Idaho. It was a happy accident - her brother is one of the models I work with when shooting in the Boise area, and she was in need of some updated family portraits, so I jumped at the chance to photograph them! I absolutely love the colors and scenery at Table Rock, and it was the perfect location for a fun family session. The colors and landscape are so much different than the swampland of Louisiana, a lovely change of pace for a southern photographer. I'm absolutely loving these images and hope I'll get to travel back to Boise to shoot more fun families like the Luangaphay family!

For information on fine art portraits or to schedule a session, please contact me for pricing and to discuss your unique vision for capturing your family's memories.

Mila's Adventures in Wonderland

Mila's Adventures in Wonderland

“No, no! The adventures first, explanations take such a dreadful time.” ~ Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass

I had so much fun chasing after Mila as she ran and played in her own imaginary Wonderland, dragging the Red Queen and Mad Hatter along while she explored. Surprisingly, she enjoyed the Red Queen's company a lot more than Alice ever had.

Besides her adventures in Wonderland, Mila also loves Minnie Mouse and enjoys evening wagon rides with her mom. She is an LSU Tigers fan and loves their team colors, purple and gold, but she  loves eating spaghetti and pizza with the Mad Hatter even more! When she needs a creative outlet, she creates finger-painting masterpieces and eats lots of popsicles when she is stressed.

Thus grew the tale of Wonderland:
Thus slowly, one by one,
Its quaint events were hammered out –
And now the tale is done,
And home we steer, a merry crew,
Beneath the setting sun.

Alice! A childish story take,
And, with a gentle hand
Lay it where Childhood's dreams are twined
In Memory's mystic band,
Like pilgrim's wither'd wreath of flowers
Pluck'd in a far-off land.

~ Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Project Life: Weeks 2&3

Project Life: Weeks 2&3

It's only the 4th week of the year, and I'm already running behind on my Project Life images. Time just flies by when you're enjoying life! The past few weeks haven't been super exciting, in terms of editorials and conceptual shoots, but the lack of excitement has given me a chance to focus on the little things. Living just outside of New Orleans gives me the opportunity to explore an amazing culture of people with a unique history, not to mention the fabulous scenery. Every time I wander around the city, I find something new to photograph. It's an endless source of beauty and inspiration! And of course I had to include some shots of my pets, family and friends - capturing everyday life is so important!

I don't know why I put this project off for so long. It's not nearly as challenging as I thought it would be. It's actually pretty darn easy - just shoot a photo or two every day and share away! At the end of each week, I print my favorites on my Canon Selphy printer, put them in my Project Life binder, add a few pretty filler cards and jot down some details. Easy as pie, right?

Here are my favorite images from weeks 2 & 3. Enjoy!

City Park is full of unique people, and of course, super cute fur babies. This little guy wanted to join in on my session :)

A few more of my week 2 favs: Japanese cherry blossoms from my in-laws tree - one of my favorite flowers; my fur baby, Aro, has taken over my editing chair; Scrappy still freezing; my collection of new dresses for conceptual shoots (yes, I have a dress buying addiction); my sister with her fur babies.

A few of my week 3 favs: Who doesn't take photos of their fro-yo? More flowers in City Park's botanical gardens; A model of a magazine street building along the miniature train track at City Park; beautiful autumn leaves, even though it's supposed to be winter here; a sneak-peek of one of my recent shoots; roses in City Park's botanical gardens.

Well, that about sums it up for weeks 2-3 of Project Life. Stay tuned for my weeks 2-3 conceptual images!
